Player Development Pathway 

Boys 2016

RugbyPA is pleased to launch its Boys Player Development Pathway for 2016.  The player development pathway will provide opportunity, development and excellence for its Junior and HS rugby players state wide. 

RugbyPA Boys Academies

The RugbyPA Regional Academies will launch this year. Inclusive satellite academies with a focus on identifying, developing and supporting talent. 

RugbyPA Boys East Academy Manager - Jack Foley (Villanova and Atlantis) - Malvern Prep, 418, S Warren Avenue, Malvern.

Dates - Monday April 11th and 26th, May 9th and 23rd. 5pm-7pm.

RugbyPA Boys Central Academy Manager - Sean Robinson (West Shore United) - Highland Elementary School, Camp Hill.

Dates-  Sunday 4/2, Monday 4/11, Wed 4/20 and 4/27.

RugbyPA West Boys Academy Manager - Eric Jerpe (Pittsburgh Harlequins) - Founders Field, Pitts,

Dates - April 10th, 17th, 24th and May 1st and 22nd. 

REGISTRATION - Players can register for a RugbyPA Academy now HERE. Cost is $65 for 4 sessions and includes a Canterbury RugbyPA Academy T Shirt.

Each Academy will select two 'Select Sides' to participate in the RugbyPA Regional Super Series. Varsity (11th and 12th Grade) and Junior Varsity (9th and 10th grade) select sides. These select sides will be chosen from the Academies and any other outstanding performers at RugbyPA State Championships. The RugbyPA Regional Super Series will take place on Saturday May 28th at Susquehanna University.  

RugbyPA All State Selection

RugbyPA will have 5 teams enter the USA Rugby Regional Cup Tournament at West Point New York on June 18th/19th. Players will be selected from the RugbyPA Regional Super Series Tournament. 

RugbyPA All State Varsity Boys (11th/12th grade) Head Coach - Jack Foley (Villanova and Atlantis)

RugbyPA All State Junior Varsity Boys (9th/10th grade) Head Coach - James English (Women's Collegiate All American Coach)

RugbyPA All State Middle School Boys (7th/ 8th grade) Head Coach - Nic Clapinson (UPenn)

RugbyPA All State Middle School trials will take place at the Regional Super Series Event on Saturday 28th May at Susquehanna University. Times to be confirmed.

Players will be selected from the RCT at West Point New York on June 18th/19th to attend USA Rugby High School All Americans Stars and Stripes Camp by selectors. This is the next step to becoming a USA High School All American.

Player Development Pathway 

Girls 2016

Rugby PA is also pleased to announce the expansion of its All State Girls Program. This will see the inclusion of a Junior Varsity Girls (9th/10th grade) to add to the current Varsity Girls Program (10th/11th grade). 

RugbyPA All State Varsity Girls Head Coach - Kevin Castner (Bloomsburg University)

RugbyPA All State Junior Varsity Girls Head Coach - Kate Daly (Penn State & Junior All American Coach)

All State Coaches will make regular scouting visits to RugbyPA D1 and D2 games throughout the year, as well as hosting Girls Development Clinics. All State teams will be selected from trials which will be held on Saturday 28th May at Hempfield, PA.

The two selected RugbyPA All State squads will then scrimmage against New Jersey on the weekend of June 11th and the All State squad will travel for the USA Rugby RCT at West Point, New York will be June 18th/19th. 

Players are then selected from the RCT to attend the USA Rugby GHSAA Stars and Stripes Camp. This is the next step to becoming a Girls High School All American. 

Coach Development Pathway

2016

RugbyPA launched the Coach Development Program last year. An opportunity for developing coaches to work with an All State Program and high performance coach during the Regional Cup Tournament. Coaches can apply for one of 2 assistant coach roles with one of the Girls or Boys All State Squads. 

Coaches may apply HERE. There are limited spots and coaches must be available to attend State Championships, Trials, Development Clinics and RCT on June 17th-19th.
