Devault, PA - March 28, 2019 Round two of the Rugby PA spring season took place this past weekend, with many teams getting their first taste of conference competition. One of those teams was North Pitt United, who hosted the high flying Kiski Valley Girls.

While North Pitt wasn’t able to start their season with a victory, one player did put in a performance that stood out.  Chloe Rechkemer, Co-Captain for North Pitt United lead the way from the from the front row all day long. The starting hooker played a solid game defensively and had several outstanding runs, including her first try. Chloe found herself in the right spot all afternoon, supporting her teammates at the breakdown.

As a third year senior, Chloe plans to go to Slippery Rock University and major in exercise science/pre-physical therapy. Outside of rugby, she excels academically and participates in the band program at Seneca Valley School District. She conditions all year round for the rugby season and for her health.

Continuing the theme of stand out performances in a losing effort, Senior Dalton Musselman helped Bishop Shanahan secure a losing bonus point in what was a tough match with visiting Gregory the Great. Nominated by the opposing teams coach, Dalton scored one try with a great chip and chase solo effort. He assisted the teams second try with an attack that started in their own try zone. Dalton was also in charge of the kicking responsibilities, making a conversion and a penalty at the end of the game to keep the loss to less than seven points.

Dalton has played rugby for Shanahan for all 4 years of his high school career. He's been the starting fly half since his sophomore year, and was recently voted captain for his senior year. During his time at Shanahan, Dalton has helped lead the team to 2 consecutive Sevens State Championships, and an HSRC Open Championship. Dalton was also a member of the RugbyPA All State team. After high school, Dalton plans on continuing his rugby career at the collegiate level, but is still deciding where that will be.

Both Chloe and Dalton will be joining our Round 1 winners in the running for our Player of the Year awards, which will be given out at the end of the season. They both will also receive invitations to the All-State Selections Camp on May 25th, where they’ll have a chance to prove they are among Pennsylvania’s best.
