Tuesday, October 6th

In lieu of its annual Fall Sevens State Championship Tournament, Rugby Pennsylvania’s Board of Directors voted today to hold its 2020 FallFest rugby sevens event over Halloween Weekend. The Fall Fest will be a two-day event hosted by the Doylestown Rugby Academy at 3650 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, PA. The High School Boys will compete on Saturday, October 31st and the High School Girls on Sunday November 1st.  A full schedule of fixtures will be published once teams have committed to participate in the FallFest on or before October 21st. Teams can register for the FallFest via the Rugby PA Website

Since Rugby PA is operating under Stage 4 of the existing  Rugby PA Return to Play guidelines, teams are permitted to have limited contact scrimmages in the lead-up to the FallFest. Teams are permitted to schedule these scrimmages at their own discretion, and will have to provide their own referee coverage.

It is important that all teams and players closely follow the return to play guidelines to ensure the FallFest is possible.  Importantly, among other changes, the guidelines currently provide that rugby activities shall not include mauls, scrums, or lineouts.  FallFest will be played under the prevailing stage of the Return to Play guidelines, and any resulting rules variations, at the time of the event.

The fields and technical areas at FallFest will be open to Rugby PA members only. Precautions will be taken to mitigate the risks, including requiring teams to provide two weeks of attendance checks, and temperature checks on the day. Spectators will NOT be permitted at the event, but every match will be livestreamed online.

Rugby PA will continue to monitor information and instructions from State and Federal officials. Should new restrictions be put in place, Rugby PA will follow accordingly. This may include the cancellation of the event.

Rugby PA is excited to allow teams and players to safely return to the pitch.
