Over 90 young rugby players represented RugbyPA over the weekend at Pittsburgh's RCT Challenge Cup. All three sides produced a competitive set of results over the two days against some of the strongest States in the Country. The successful weekend was crowned by the Varsity Girls last play victory against Indiana in the Championship Final. While the results speak for themselves, more importantly, this was an experience that all players involved improved, developed and enjoyed.

The Varsity Girls team captained by Sophie Pryz from Doylestown and Paige Krahling from Keystone were a group that should character and determination throughout. They played some great rugby against some talented and spirited opposition.

Saturday
Won vs Virginia 33- 17
Won vs Ohio 22-10
Sunday
Final Won vs Indiana 22 - 17

A last play of the game score from tournament MVP Daz Williams of West Shore United secured a well deserved victory for the RugbyPA Varsity Girls.

The Junior Varsity Boys captained by Doylestown Fly Half Mike Weir, had an impressive first day, playing some expansive, fast paced rugby. They were unfortunate to not get the result they were looking for in Sunday's Semi Final missing out narrowly to Virginia in an edge of the seat game.

Junior Varsity

Won vs Maryland 26 - 10
Sunday -

It was encouraging to see some of the talent on display and testament to the Junior and HS Club coaches who have invested so much time in these young players. The future looks bright for RugbyPA boys rugby and some of these players are destined for big things. Captain Mike Weir took tournament MVP.
